WHAT IS CANADIAN MAKERS CARE?

Canadian Makers Care is created, coordinated, and delivered by Ontario SEA – Skills, Education & Arts. It is one of the ways Ontario SEA brings its mission into conferences, festivals, community gatherings, and other events.

Ontario SEA thoughtfully matches Canadian makers and businesses with suitable events based on the audience, location, format, and purpose of each opportunity. Experiences may include product gifts and samples, educational displays, maker stories, demonstrations, special offers, and hands-on workshops.

Every Canadian Makers Care experience is designed to do more than present products. It helps audiences discover the skills, creativity, materials, and processes behind Canadian makers and businesses while increasing awareness of practical skills and Canadian craftsmanship.

Through these experiences, Ontario SEA develops the awareness, partnerships, and support needed to preserve valuable skills and expand hands-on education for future generations.

HOW CANADIAN MAKERS CARE WORKS

  1. Ontario SEA learns about the maker, business, or event.
We gather information about the products, stories, audience, location, event format, and available contribution.
  2. Ontario SEA creates the right match.
We thoughtfully select contributions and experiences that complement the event and support the purpose of Canadian Makers Care.
  3. Ontario SEA coordinates the experience.
Products, stories, displays, demonstrations, workshops, QR codes, and recognition materials are organized into a meaningful event experience.
  4. Ontario SEA shares the results.
When available, participating supporters receive recognition, photographs, feedback, and information about the event’s impact.

WHY IT MATTERS

Practical skills and traditional forms of craftsmanship are disappearing as fewer opportunities remain for people to learn directly from experienced makers and skilled professionals.

Ontario SEA works to preserve this knowledge by creating opportunities for people to learn, practise, teach, and share valuable hands-on skills.

Canadian Makers Care helps Ontario SEA introduce this mission to new audiences, encourage appreciation for Canadian craftsmanship, and build the relationships and resources needed to provide workshops, mentorship, and practical-skills education.

MAKERS AND CANADIAN BUSINESSES

Share your products, craftsmanship, expertise, or story through an experience thoughtfully coordinated by Ontario SEA.

Contributions may include products, samples, materials, displays, demonstrations, workshop participation, attendee offers, or other resources that complement an event. Participating supporters may receive meaningful recognition and feedback while helping Ontario SEA build awareness and support for hands-on education.
